Description
On the hill overlooking our shop an American flag is flying over the Presidio, the fort built by the Spanish to protect the Mission de Alcala in 1769. This is where California began. From the beginning soap and candles made out of tallow from the mission cattle played a role in the history of San Diego and California.
A day at Toby's is filled with fun visitor activities and demonstrations: making wax hands, dipping souvenir candles, creating fragrant soy wax bead candles, designing seashell and coffee bean pillars, scooping scrumptious sugar scrub and sea salts in a decorator jar, demonstrating the art of hand-carved exquisite candles and more.
We invite you to view our website as we take a fun, old-fashioned tour around Toby’s featuring our own hand-crafted specialty candles and other great products which are popular with local patrons and visitors from around the world.
